Delaram Farzaneh

Dr. Delaram Farzaneh joined the International Justice Resource Center as a law fellow in 2015. She received her bachelor’s degree in Law from Islamic Azad University in Tehran, Iran. She received her first LL.M., Master of Laws in Comparative Law, from California Western School of Law in San Diego. In 2015, she received her second LL.M. in International Law, and her S.J.D. (Doctor of Juridical Science) in International Legal Studies from Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco.

She has published an article, One Step Forward, Two Steps Back: A Brief History of Legal Discriminations Against Women in Iran, and the Violations of International Human Rights in the law journal Annual Survey of International and Comparative Law. Her S.J.D. dissertation focuses on violations of international human rights of women in Iran caused by systematic discrimination against them in public employment, with a special emphasis on banning women from pursuing judgeships. It also examines women’s rights in Iran from ancient times to today, explores other fundamental discriminations against Iranian women, and compares Iran with developments in U.S. law concerning women in the judiciary. In 2014, she was an intern with an NGO focused on addressing human rights violations.

Delaram is also an accomplished artist, having had juried artwork shown at various shows in the Bay Area.
