Aynur Jafar joined the International Justice Resource Center in 2015. She is an international human rights lawyer and received her LL.B. degree from Baku State University and various LL.M degrees from Baku State University, the University of Oslo, and the University of California Berkeley School of Law.
She worked as a human rights lawyer in Azerbaijan for over seven years, but was forced to leave the country in August 2014 as the situation for human rights workers became increasingly unsafe. Prior to leaving Azerbaijan, she worked for local and international non-governmental organizations such as the Legal Education Society and American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative, and for international organizations such as the Council of Europe and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) based in Baku. She also was a lecturer in international human rights law and public international law at Baku State University and Khazar University. Aynur has worked as a research assistant at the Human Rights Center at UC Berkeley School of Law and as a research fellow at the Williams Institute at the UC Los Angeles School of Law.
