Danya joined IJRC in 2018 as an International Human Rights Law Fellow. She holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, as well as an M.A. in Arab Studies from Georgetown University. She received her B.A. in International Studies from the University of South Carolina.
During law school, Danya was a Global Law Scholar and Human Rights Associate, and obtained a certificate in Refugees and Humanitarian Emergencies. She was a member of the Human Rights Fact Finding Practicum, in which a team of law students designed and published a report on LGBT rights in Guyana along with an advocacy strategy to promote the findings.
Before joining IJRC, Danya worked with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency in Jordan where she worked with the organization and Jordanian officials to ensure both were in compliance with their respective international legal obligations. She also worked for Human Rights Watch in their Middle East and North Africa Division where she primarily focused on the situation in Palestine/Israel.
