Sonia Gioseffi is a Partner in the Investment Management group of K&L Gates LLP, where she advises sponsors about the organization and regulatory requirements of private investment funds. She also works with family offices and other institutional investors. Sonia joined the IJRC Board of Directors in 2017.
She previously filed an amicus curiae brief for Case No. 406/03 before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights on a pro-bono basis regarding the public’s right to access state-held environmental information in the Americas. While in law school, she was a research assistant for Professor Muna Ndulo, where she researched governance issues, African legal systems and international human rights issues around the world. More recently, Sonia taught a seminar course on the U.S. securities laws at the Southern African Institute for Public Policy and Research. Sonia joined the IJRC Board of Directors in 2017.
Sonia holds a B.A. in Economics and in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She also holds a J.D. and a LL.M. in International and Comparative Law from Cornell Law School.
