Laura Shoaps joined the International Justice Resource Center as a law fellow in 2014 and became an attorney with the organization in 2015. She received her B.A. in sociology and political science from the University of Michigan and her J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School.
Laura’s research on human trafficking was published in the Lewis & Clark Law Review, in a piece entitled “Room for Improvement: The Palermo Protocol and the Trafficking Victims Protection Act.” Prior to joining IJRC, Laura interned with the Human Rights Law Network in India, where she worked on child rights cases before the Delhi High Court. As a law student, she participated in the “Human Rights in the Americas” study abroad program in Costa Rica through Santa Clara Law. She has also interned with the Global Freedom Center, focusing on labor trafficking issues, and with the National Crime Victim Law Institute, creating tools to spread awareness about victims’ rights. In her spare time, Laura enjoys practicing yoga, knitting, and traveling.
Laura is a member of the State Bar of California.
